News Tid-Bits · There WILL be a Euchre Tournament this year! Details are being worked out now. Stay tuned for details. · At the SPY’s last meeting we heard a request to bring back the 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament that we used to hold during the Farmer’s Picnic. It was called “The Barnyard Classic” and was very popular. We’re considering this too. Contributions · Mark Woodman Plumbing & Heating made donations in memory of Stanley Rice, Joseph Vojtech, & Roger Buxton. · We received a surprise grant from “The Blackbaud Giving Fund”, which was on behalf of Takeda Pharmaceuticals and its donors. · A special salute goes out to Mark & Shari Woodman who not only re-uped their Corporate Sponsorship for 2022, but also kicked in extra and became Platinum Sponsors as well! Parting Comments • Deep Thought of the Week: A negative mind will never give you a positive life. • Notable Quote: "If you’re not prepared to be wrong, you’ll never come up with anything original.”---Ken Robinson • That’s Puny Department: I told my wife she was drawing her eyebrows too high. She looked surprised. · Did You Know Section: Legend has it that George Washington chopped down a cherry tree when he was 6 years old and, when confronted by his father said, “I can not tell a lie. I did it with my hatchet.” However, this never happened. This tale was in fact concocted by Parson Mason Weems, one of Washington’s biographers, who made up the story in hopes of demonstrating Washington’s honesty. This tale is not the only myth about Washington. His wooden dentures? They weren’t made of wood; they were made of hippopotamus teeth that had been filed down to fit into Washington’s mouth.
