SCHOLARSHIPS

In 1987, the Sunfield Area Sponsors of Programs for Youth (SPY’s)  began awarding  scholarships to deserving high school  seniors. To date, over $300,000 has been given in scholarships and recognition awards. Scholarship application packets are available online at www.sunfieldareaspys.com.

In 2020: The Sunfield SPY's announced the addition of a separate Trade's Scholarship program. This is an additional scholarship that will be awarded to an eligible graduating seniors that wish to enter a trade.  Check out the Scholarship Application/Trades Scholarship Application for more information and eligibility criteria!

We also award the Lade Military Service Honorarium for students entering the military, as well as the Richard Lenon Award that is based solely on Community Service.

The Sunfield Community Foundation announced the recipient of their 2021 Community Scholarship and Award at the Sunfield Farmers Picnic held in August. Pictured are: 

Zachary Underwood

Son of Scott Underwood and Jamie Trommater

Zachary received a $4,000 scholarship. 

He will be attending MSU where he will be studying chemistry.

Emily Root

Daughter of Jodi Root and the late Mark Root

Emilie received a $5,000 scholarship. 

She will be attending Davenport University where she will be studying marketing.

​

Averie Steward

Daughter of Matt & Marissa Steward. 

Averie received a $2,500 scholarship. 

She will be attending Kellogg Community College. 

​

Also, at the awards ceremony it was announced that Averie was this year's recipient of the Richard Lenon Community Service Award. This award is given to the graduating Senior that has demonstrated the greatest degree of community service. That is the only criteria for the award. Along with an engraved plaque, Averie received a check for $500.

Pictured is Tyler Storm, son of Josh and Stacy Storm. Tyler has enlisted in the Navy. In recognition for Tyler's commitment, he was presented with the Lade Naval Military Service Medal and a $500 honorarium.
