SCHOLARSHIPS
In 1987, the Sunfield Area Sponsors of Programs for Youth (SPY’s) began awarding scholarships to deserving high school seniors. To date, almost $300,000 has been given in scholarships and recognition awards. Scholarship application packets are available online at www.sunfieldareaspys.com.
In 2020: The Sunfield SPY's announced the addition of a separate Trade's Scholarship program. This is an additional scholarship that will be awarded to an eligible graduating senior that wishes to enter a trade. Check out the Scholarship Application/Trades Scholarship Application for more information and eligibility criteria!
We also award the Lade Military Service Honorarium for students entering the military, as well as the Richard Lenon Award that is based solely on Community Service.

The Sunfield Community Foundation announced the recipient of their 2021 Community Scholarship and Award at the Sunfield Farmers Picnic held recently. Pictured is Tara Weller, who received a $5,000 scholarship as well as a $500 “Richard Lenon Community Service Award.” This marks the 35th year that the scholarships have been awarded to a total of 194 graduating seniors.
Tara is to be congratulated for her leadership, involvement, character, community service, as well as academic achievement—elements the Sunfield Community Foundation and the SPYs were proud to recognize on behalf of the community. She is the daughter of Darin & Casandra Weller. She plans to attend Grand Valley State University to study nursing. Congratulations and best of luck in the future, Tara.
