Adopt-A-Highway Project Coming Up

The next Adopt-A-Highway trash pick-up of the season will take place next Saturday, July 25th.  Anyone that would like to lend a hand is more than welcome to come out and help.  It will take only about a half-hour of your time with a good turn-out, and makes a real difference.

We will meet at 9 AM in the Best Tax Service parking lot just West of the Sunfield blinker light.  If you need more information please call our project chairman Derek Desgranges at 269-838-7686.

Derek says if for any reason you can’t make it on Saturday, but would still like to help out by doing some picking up on a different day this week, just give him a call and get some bags and he will give you a small section to take care of.

Looking For Some Helpers

The new SPY’s Community Celebration Calendars are in!  Our event chairperson, Rosie Best is looking for a little help with the distribution of the calendars---especially to senior citizens.  The majority of the calendars are usually passed out at the Farmer’s Picnic, but this year it is anticipated that attendance will be way down, especially with the elderly, due to covid virus.  So, some distribution help is needed.

For more information, or to volunteer to lend a hand, please call Rosie at 517-331-0836.  Thank you!

A Note From Union Bank

Over the last several months, COVID-19 has had a huge impact on businesses across the country. Our local businesses that rely on cash and coin for their daily transactions now face another challenge, the national coin shortage. Throughout the pandemic, our community came together to support these businesses. Due to the shortage, they need our help again.

We at Union Bank are calling on our customers, employees, and community members to bring in their piggy banks, jars, and/or buckets to cash in their coin.   Loose and rolled coin will be accepted at our Dimondale, Hastings, Lake Odessa, and Westphalia Branches and rolled coin only at Ada and Mulliken Branches.

To thank you for helping our local businesses, for every $10 of coin you cash in at your preferred Union Bank location, you will be entered into a drawing to win 1 of 4 Union Bank Gift Baskets.  The last day to enter into the drawing is Friday, July 31st.  The winners will be selected and contacted on Monday, August 3rd.

Parting Comments

· Something To Ponder: I’m so old, I remember when it was illegal to break the law.

· Thoughts On Maintaining Marital Harmony:  Hold your wife’s hand in the Mall, because if you let go, she’ll start shopping.  It looks romantic, but in’s actually economic.
