This Show has really grown over the years. Again this year, they will have a lot of GREAT handcrafted trophies, made by local artist Ron Kruger. There will also be lots of great door prizes. Please join the fun at this year’s Farmers Picnic!
The Sunfield Fire Department Auxiliary Is Excited To Announce The 8th Annual Fire-In-The-Hole Golf Outing!
Our golf outing is more than just a day on the course—it’s a way to give back to the brave men and women of the Sunfield Sebewa Danby Fire Department. These volunteers are the ones who run in when others run out, answering the call at all hours to keep our community safe. Funds raised through this event go directly toward supporting the department with vital equipment, training, and resources they need to continue serving our neighbors. Every swing, every putt, and every sponsorship helps strengthen the safety net that protects our families, farms, and businesses.
By joining us, you’re not just enjoying a great day of golf—you’re standing alongside the firefighters who stand ready for us every day. Adopt-A-Highway Trash Pick-Up Thank-You
Derek Desgranges, aka “Captain Highway”, fearless leader of the SPY’s Adopt-A-Highway project sends out a BIG Thank-You to the fine community minded folks that turned out for the second Adopt-A-Highway trash pick-up of the year. The SPY's pick-up roadside trash along M-43 from Round Lake Road on the west side of town to Shaytown Road on the east side of town, three times a year in conjunction with the Michigan Department of Transportation program. Thank-You John & Sandy Fisher; Grace Grosshans; Paul Campbell; and Lance Eldridge for a job well-done! The crew picked up 12 bags of trash; some car bumpers and various car parts.

· Did You Know Section: The first official U.S. coin told people to ‘mind your business.’ That, at least, is what the first official U.S. coin, minted in 1787, had written on the obverse (front side). Inspired by a design from Benjamin Franklin, it was known as the Fugio cent because it featured that Latin word (which means “I fly”) next to a sundial. Below the image was the phrase “Mind your business.” Taken together, the message has been interpreted to mean “Time flies, so mind your business.”
The reverse side of the Fugio cent was comparatively mild and featured the phrase “We are one” surrounded by 13 chain links representing the original colonial states; it wasn’t until the next year that “E pluribus unum” was first printed on U.S. currency. The Fugio cent, for its part, didn’t last long in circulation. The coin was lightweight, which people apparently didn’t enjoy the feel of.
