Sportsman’s Night Mega Event Epilogue #3
This year’s event was filled with many improvements, fantastic prizes, and a couple of very special features. The first special feature was the recognition of every veteran in attendance. Each one received a distinctive engraved pocket-watch. In addition, each recipient was presented with a hand-written note from a young person thanking them for their service. It was indeed a great acknowledgement.

The second special feature happened at the very end of the night’s activities where a special “Caleb Klotz Memorial Gun 2026” was auctioned off. Auctioneer Bill Wilson got the bidding for this special gun going quite earnestly. In the end, high-bidder Bryan Spitzley took home the prize. The money raised by auctioning the gun went to Caleb’s family.

· Did You Know Section: No doubt you have heard the phrase “buying the farm”. It is synonymous with dying. But, did you ever wonder how the phrase originated and took on that meaning? Well now Bunkie, here’s the scoop---During WW I, soldiers were given life insurance policies worth $5,000. This was about the price of an average farm at the time. So, if you died, you “bought the farm” for your survivors.
