Library Holiday Raffle Underway

The Sunfield District Library Friends Group has started their annual holiday raffle.  There have been many wonderful items donated from area businesses.  Without these businesses and many individual supporters, they could not have the success that they experience.

A variety of gift baskets and gift cards, are on display at the Library.  Baskets from the businesses of Mapes Furniture, A&W Grand Ledge, Bader & Sons, Investment Solutions, True Value, Centennial Acres, Wagon Wheel, Farm Charm Crafts, Underwood Farm Cannery, Heinze Sugar Shack, OM’s Garden, Denny Farms, Best Honey, and Delectable Delights are included.

Gift cards from many businesses are available, as well.  Cards from Buddy’s on the Beach, Penny’s 5 Star, Tammy’s Hair Salon, Linda’s Corner Landing, Culver’s, Meyer’s Bakery, Jordan Lake Floral, Tabby’s Chop Shop, and Swede’s Restaurant are included.

Individual “Friends” who have items on display include John Fisher, Diane Rogers, Jackie Carr, Mary Simmons, Doug & Katherine Schlappi, J.R. & Lisa Bell, Iris Roper, Kathy Hengesbach, Julie Hopkins, Peg Heinze, Pat Haigh, Dorothy Smith, Joyce Martin, Beth Hynes, and an anonymous Living Oils donor.

Just a few of the many available items are pictured below.

A special donation from Mark Woodman Plumbing and Heating went directly to the raffle proceeds.

Tickets are on sale now through Saturday, December 12th.  Stop in during regular Library hours to view all of the raffle items on display.  All Covid precautions are in place to keep patrons, as well as staff, safe and healthy.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Library staff Tue-Fri 2pm-8pm and Sat 9am-1pm at (517)566-8065.

Sunfield Cares Program Update

“Sunfield Cares” is a locally run community program that provides assistance to families in need   With COVID now continuing to be dealt with, times are difficult for some people in our community.  This presents a whole new coping experience.  As frustration and anxiety mounts in area homes, we must find ways to help.   To that end, a helping initiative, "Sunfield Cares", was launched here in Sunfield twelve years ago by a group of local business, religious, and community leaders to assist those in the area in need.  The purpose of "Sunfield Cares" originally was rather simple and direct---to provide 2 gallons of milk a week to at least 10 families in need for an extended period of time.

If you know of a family that could use that type of assistance from the Sunfield Cares program, just contact David Rosier at 517-566-8141.

Contributions

John & Sandra Fisher made a contribution to the Scholarship Fund in memory of Kenny Guy.

Newsletter Note

I have received a report from Rosie Best, who is a rather experienced auditor, informing me that we have published two Newsletters that carried the same number---#83.  This error occurred back on June 17th and 19th.  So, this Newsletter was advanced to #107 in order to keep the correct count and to prevent anyone with OCD from having to undergo therapy because of it.

Parting Comments

· Reflections:  Whenever my wife uses the phrase, “I was thinking”.  That means I either have to move---build---paint---or buy something.

· Notable Quote: “Complaining about a problem without posing a solution is called WHINING.”---Teddy Roosevelt
