Community Christmas Basket Distribution News
The Lakewood Community Council has once again requested help with the annual Christmas Basket Project for the Lakewood School District. The Christmas Basket project helps nearly 200 families in the Lakewood area. Drivers that are familiar with the Sunfield area are needed on Saturday, December 13h, at 9 AM. It will take just a couple hours of your time, at the most. Please mark that date and time on your calendar and make plans to help spread some holiday cheer.
For those of you that have helped with this distribution in the past, please note that the Christmas Basket pick-up location has changed. For years the Lakewood Community Council has used the Methodist Church in downtown Lake Odessa. However, this year they will be using the Living Gospel Church which is located in the northern part of Lake Odessa. You come into Lake O and go North on Jordan Lake Avenue. Turn right on Rochester Street, which is just across the street from the Fair Grounds sign. For Further information, please contact John Fisher at 517-648-0969. Thank you!

Parting Comments
· Deep Thought of the Week: When people say: “Stop living in the past”, my thought in turn is, “But the music was so much better then!”
· Notable Quote: “It may look like I’m doing nothing, but I’m actively waiting for my problems to go away.”
· That's Puny Department: Did you hear about the kid who ate eight toy horses? He was hospitalized and is now in stable condition.
· Did You Know Section: Nebraska takes pride in its sweetest invention: Kool-Aid. Created in 1927 in Hastings, the fruity drink became a household favorite. In 1998, Nebraska made it the official state soft drink, much to the delight of nostalgia lovers. Every August, Hastings, Nebraska hosts the Kool-Aid Days Festival, complete with giant pitchers and endless flavors. The "Kool-Aid Man" himself even made an appearance at the declaration ceremony! Despite some pushback from health advocates, the sugary drink remains an iconic American beverage.
