Sunfield Business Briefs
· We are sorry to report that Nolan DeVee, owner of Ledges Signs and Service, which was located in the back portion of the Sunfield Cycle Shop down on the corner, has decided to retire and close up his business. Nolan did outstanding work all over mid-Michigan and is a truly great guy! The vacancy created by his departure will be taken up by Andy Clafflin and the Sunfield Cycle Shop, which will give Andy more room to grow.
· On surely a sad note, we regret to report that Belinda Gulley, the founder, owner, operator of the Caterpillar Clubhouse Childcare Facility, which is located in the old Sunfield Elementary School building, has suddenly passed away due to Pancreatic Cancer. This leaves the future of that facility in limbo.

Parting Comments
· Deep Thought of the Week: I have often been asked what inspires me to get out of bed every morning. My response---My bladder mostly.”
· Notable Quote: “Happiness is having a large, loving, caring, close-knit family---in another city.’
· That’s Puny Department: The other day Buddy Collins was sharing with me some rather personal information. He told me, “Fish, you know what I’ve discovered? It seems that when I get naked in the bathroom, the shower gets turned on."
· Did You Know Section: McDonald’s Once Tried Making Bubblegum-Flavored Broccoli. Kids weren’t lovin’ it when McDonald’s tried to add bubblegum-flavored broccoli to Happy Meals. In 2014, the fast-food giant’s then-CEO, Donald Thompson, revealed the bizarre experiment at an event hosted by a venture capitalist firm. Under pressure to make Happy Meals healthier, the company reflected on how toothpaste and amoxicillin producers had used artificial bubblegum flavoring to make their goods more palatable to children. McDonald’s decided to try a similar tactic with the divisive cruciferous veggie.
“Mickey D’s” food scientists did successfully make broccoli taste like bubblegum, likely by employing a combination of strawberry, banana, and cherry flavors. However, a focus group of kids was confused by the final product, which they enjoyed about as little as standard broccoli (we’re guessing it wasn’t pink). The item was never added to the McDonald’s menu.
