Farmer’s Picnic Report #3
· This year was the 53rd Annual SPYs Softball Tournament. Both divisions played a round robin format, then single elimination tournaments. There were seven men’s teams and five co-ed teams. Due to the weather, the first and second place teams in the Men’s Division decided to split the prize pot and stop the tournament. The tied team names are Michigan Mush and Best Tax Service. A picture of the combined teams appears below in the midst of the mud puddles.
· The Co-ed Division tournament was won by
La Familia.

· The seventh annual Home Run Derby had 28 entries. Home Run Derby champion Shannon Green had 10 home runs. Second place went to Cole Kennedy with 8 home runs.

More Farmer’s Picnic Highlights
· The car, truck, bike & tractor show on Main Street had 40 registered vehicles this year. Torre Miller won the “People’s Choice Award” with his 1932 Studebaker Speedster.
· Neal Miller’s 1956 Studebaker Golden Hawk took home the “Best In Show” award.
· Pictured below (left) is event Director Paul Campbell presenting one of the three awards that Nolan DeVee won at the show. Nolan had multiple entries this year. His awards were for “Oldest Bike”; “Vehicle Owned The Longest”; and “Best Bike”

Notice #1
The next meeting of the Sunfield Area Sponsors of Programs for Youth (the SPY’s) will take place on Tuesday, September 10th. It will be held at the Best Tax Service building starting at 6:30 PM. Guests are always welcome
Notice #2
The final Adopt-A-Highway trash pick-up of the season will take place on Saturday, September 28th. The SPY's pick-up trash along M-43 from Round Lake Road on the west side of town to Shaytown Road on the east side of town, three times a year in conjunction with the Michigan Department of Transportation program. Anyone interested in lending a hand, just show up at 9 AM in the Best Tax Service parking lot just West of the Sunfield blinker light. If you need more information please call our project chairman Derek Desgranges at 269-838-7686.
Derek says if for any reason you can’t make it on the 28th. but would still like to help out by doing some picking up on a different day, just give him a call and get some bags and he will give you a small section to take care of.

The next Texas Hold ‘Em fundraiser the SPY’s are scheduled to work will take place Monday, September 23rd thru Thursday, September 26th. Our new project chairperson, Craig Cappon, will be looking for some shift workers.
