SPY Newsletter 6/5/20

SPY’s Newsletter #82 (6/5/20) Sunfield Farmers Picnic News YES, there will be a Sunfield Farmers Picnic in 2020!  The theme of the picnic will be "Sunfield Strong".  The Farmer’s Picnic Board is planning a Friday night and full day Saturday event, including SPY's Softball tournament, a growing cornhole tournament with 3-4 divisions, kids peddle pull, great food, Entertainment and will be capped off by awesome fireworks.  There will be more to come.  We will keep you posted. Also, the Sunfield Farmers Picnic 2020 Ice Cream Social (distanced) and Grand Marshal announcement, will be held in the Van Buren Park on Tuesday July 7th from 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm.  Please mark that date on your calendar and make it a point to come out.

Scholarship News Since Lakewood High School canceled the Senior Awards Night this year, which is the usual venue we use to announce and present each year’s scholarship winners, we have been scrambling to find an appropriate way to make the scholarship presentations. This year, we are tentatively planning to make the SPY’s and Sunfield Community Foundation scholarships and other award presentations at the Farmers Picnic in August.  Specific details will follow as things firm up.  Stay tuned. Looking For A Few Helpers As we reported in the last Newsletter, Centennial Acres has graciously announced that they will be putting on a special golf event to benefit the SPY’s.  This is their event and is not to be confused with the rescheduling of the previously canceled SPY Shootout Golf Tournament. However, Centennial has indicated that the SPY’s are welcome to do some related activities in order to raise some much-needed funds for their programs.  So, we are looking for some volunteers to sell 50 / 50 raffle tickets to the golfers and to collect money at the Las Vegas Holes.  The special golf outing takes place on Sunday, June 21st., starting at Noon.  If interested in volunteering, or if you would like further information, please call Steve Grosshans at 269-838-6459. We welcome anyone in the community who would like to help out!
