SPY's Newsletter

SPY’s Community Newsletter #204 (7/13/22) Sunfield United Methodist Church Has Started An Emergency Food Pantry Did you know that Sunfield now has a fully operational emergency food pantry? They will continue to run this food pantry as long as there is a need and as long as people are willing to donate food. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mary Noeske at 517-597-0058. (Please see attached flyer). Notice Lookie here! Tammy’s Hair Salon will be selling drinks and snacks out in front of her salon on Main Street during the parade and the car show at the Farmer’s Picnic on Saturday, August 20th. Stay refreshed and enjoy the parade and show! (Cash only). Scouting History in Sunfield, Michigan A new Community endeavor is beginning-----a book is in the works compiling information about the “History of Scouting in Sunfield”, which began somewhere around 1945. I, DeAnna Clark, a former member of the Sunfield Cub Scout Pack #157 and Sunfield Boy Scout Troop #157, with the help of Jan Sedore, of the Welch Historical Museum/Sunfield Historical Society, and several other residents, whether past or present from Sunfield will be collaborating on this new book. There was a Sunfield Explorer Post #657 with Delmer England as the advisor. Brownies Troop #204 and Girl Scouts Troop #155 began in the mid-1950’s. We are looking for your connection to any one of these scouting entities. Dig out any photographs of yourself or with a group of scouts / events / activities / campouts that we can publish. Be sure to include names, dates and other important information. Any photographs can be scanned at the Welch Historical Museum. We want to hear about your excitement to earn the Cub Scout’s Highest Honor the “Arrow of Light”, Boy Scouts “Eagle Scout” rank, Junior Girl Scouts “Rainbow” rank (which later became the “Bronze”, “Silver” and “Gold” awards) or the Explorer Scout Ranger Award. Be sure to provide this information. Scouting teaches life lessons and/or skills…many of these life lessons and/or skills are still used to this day. Tell us about them. Be sure to watch the Welch Historical Museum, Sunfield, MI Facebook page for help identifying individuals in pictures and updates. This book cannot be accomplished without the help of each one of you! If you were involved in any one of the Scouting programs in Sunfield, please take the time to complete the attached Scouting History in Sunfield, Michigan information sheet and return it to the Sunfield Historical Society by September 1, 2022. Glassware Donations Sought Clean out the cupboards and round up any glassware, (especially logoed glasses), or new or “gently used” stuffed animals that we can use in the Dime Pitch Booth at the Farmer’s Picnic in August. If you have anything to donate please contact our new project chairpeople, Zeke & Samantha Cappon at 517-331-3360, or drop off any donations at the Best Tax Service office. Parting Comments • Deep Thought of the Week: No one will manufacture a lock without a key. Similarly God won’t give problems without solutions. • Notable Quote: "Everything slows down with age---except the time it takes cake and ice cream to reach you hips.”---John Wagnerf • That’s Puny Department: Relationships are a lot like algebra. Have you ever looked at your X and wondered Y? • Did You Know Section: Back in the day, Michael Jordan wanted to sign an endorsement deal with Adidas, not Nike. But, Adidas thought MJ wasn’t worth anything special, so they passed. Ooops! Notices 1. If there is any organization or business out there that has something they would like to advertise or promote, please feel free to submit it to this Newsletter and we will help publicize it. There is no charge. We are glad to provide this means as a public service to help keep the community informed. 2.
